Game Recap: Field Hockey |

No. 4 Field Hockey breezes by Stockton, 7-1

SALISBURY, Md. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team controlled the action from the downbeat en route to a 7-1 win over the Stockton Ospreys on Sunday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gulls got on the board within the first four minutes as Emma Radebaugh took a rebounded shot and pushed through to the left side of the cage, putting Salisbury ahead 1-0 early.
  • After knocking on the door through the rest of the quarter, Salisbury got its second goal of the afternoon in spectacular fashion as McKenna Horner took a feed from Alayna Gigliotti, cut in front of the cage and flicked a backhanded shot into the high left corner, doubling the lead to 2-0 with three minutes left in the first.
  • With 3:38 to go in the second quarter, Arden Hunteman took control of an errant pass to set up a transition attack. Hunteman eventually got the ball just inside the top left of the arc and took aim for the right corner, powering it past the Osprey goalie to make it 3-0 Salisbury.
  • The Sea Gulls salted it away with a four-goal barrage in the third quarter. Marli McDorman found the back of the cage twice in the span of 36 seconds, the latter on a penalty corner feed from Mack Dinopoulos to put SU ahead 5-0.
  • Not even three minutes later Molly Reardon cut through a seam through the right side of the arc and set up a one-timer with Hunteman in the left corner of the cage for another goal. Then at the 6:36 mark, Madelyn Reed netted one more off a Stockton deflection, building the Sea Gull advantage to 7-0.
  • Stockton got one back early in the fourth quarter. On their first penalty corner of the afternoon, the Ospreys put three quick shots on goal before Miana Alessandroni snuck one into the cage, giving the game its final 7-1 margin with 11:17 to go.
