SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 2 Salisbury field hockey program earned a 5-2 Senior Day victory over the University of Mary Washington Saturday afternoon inside Sea Gull Stadium. The Sea Gulls honored
Isabel Larrabee, Olivia Twilley, Emma Radebaugh, Allie Williams, and
Hannah Johnson pregame for Senior Day festivities.
Salisbury got on the board first when
Radebaugh deflected a shot in off an assist from
Kaitlyn DeModna. Mary Washington would tie the game in the second period of action as the teams headed into halftime tied 1-1.
The Sea Gull offense came alive in the third period scoring three goals and pulling away from the Eagles.
Arden Hunteman broke the tie making a diving effort off a rebound and finding the back of the goal.
Alayna Gigliotti joined in on the scoring with her first career goal off another assist from
DeModna. Gigliotti then earned an assist on the third goal of the period when
McKenna Horner scored for Salisbury.
Hunteman tacked on another goal in the final period of action with
Regan Nacrelli picking up the assist on the 5th goal of the afternoon for SU.
Game Notes
- Abbey McIlvain picked up three saves in goal for the Sea Gulls
- Salisbury totaled 21 shots with 11 of those being on target
- That was good enough for 10 more shots than Mary Washington
- The Eagles did earn six more penalty corners than the Sea Gulls with 12 total
Salisbury is back in Sea Gull Stadium when they host rival Christopher Newport University on Oct. 16th at 4 p.m.
