ARLINGTON, Va. – The Salisbury University men's swimming team got itself in the win column for the first time this season, breezing by the Marymount (Va.) Saints, 185.5-76.5, on Saturday afternoon at the Rose Bente' Lee Center.
MEET NOTES
- Mason Potts continued his hot start to his collegiate career, winning four gold medals and scoring a team-high 15.5 points across his four events. Potts earned individual victories in the 50-yard freestyle (season-best 21.62) and 200-yard backstroke (1:57.43).
- Gabriele Miksa won a gold and two silvers, taking first place in the 200-yard breaststroke (season-best 2:16.25) and second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.14).
- Shad Frantz and Matt Merke each brought home a gold and a silver. Frantz won the 200-yard individual medley (season-best 2:01.89) and took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:11.31), while Merke touched first in the 500-yard freestyle (season-best 4:51.08) and second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.41).
- Brody Hanlon won the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.10) as part of his two golds for the afternoon. He also won a pair of bronzes, including individually in the 100-yard butterfly (55.03).
- Salisbury won the 200-yard medley relay on the back of a 1:36.30 mark from Nick Corcoran, Hanlon, Potts, and Michael DeSimone.
- In the 200-yard freestyle relay, DeSimone, Potts, Themo Rigakos, and Owen Brewer rolled to victory in 1:26.23. Potts posted the best split of the quartet (20.95).
- In all, the Sea Gulls left Arlington with 13 gold medals, seven silvers, and nine bronzes, good for 29 medals.
The Sea Gulls are off next weekend before heading north for a showdown with New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rival Rowan on Saturday, Nov. 2. The first event from Glassboro, N.J. is slated for 12 p.m.
