Kell makes return trip to D3baseball Team of the Week

NOTE: Sea Gulls' Wednesday game vs. Stevenson moved to 3:30 p.m.

SALISBURY, Md. – Returning to the national stage after another white-hot week at the plate, outfielder Andrew Kell of the fifth-ranked Salisbury University baseball team has once again made the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week for April 8-14, as revealed on Wednesday morning.

Kell, a junior from Columbia, Md., put up a .727/.688/1.455 slash line with two doubles, two home runs, six runs, nine RBIs, and an OPS of 2.143 over the Sea Gulls' three games last week against Hood, Catholic, and Christopher Newport. He went yard twice with six RBIs on Tuesday against Hood, including a leadoff homer in the first inning and a grand slam in the second. Kell also notched three rib-eyes in an 18-3 drubbing of then-15th-ranked CNU on Saturday.

Adding in the first two games from this week, Kell is batting .552 on the season, the best mark across all levels of NCAA baseball by a full 36 points. He also leads Division III in on-base percentage (.645) while slotting fourth in slugging (.920), 41st in doubles (12), 46th in total bases (80), and 48th in hits (48).

Kell has now made the D3baseball Team of the Week twice after earning an outfield slot on Mar. 20. He is also a three-time Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Player of the Week.

Kell and the Sea Gulls followed up their 2-1 week last week by beating Wilson 20-2 on Monday and Neumann 10-0 on Tuesday to improve to 24-6 on the year. Salisbury continues its five-game week on Wednesday afternoon at home against Stevenson. First pitch from Donnie Williams Stadium is now scheduled for 3:30 p.m. – half an hour later from its original start time.
