Brohawn dubbed ABCA/ATEC Regional Coach of the Year

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After maintaining the Sea Gulls' high level of success after an offseason of tremendous turnover, head coach Troy Brohawn of the Salisbury University baseball team has been named the NCAA Division III Region V Coach of the Year, announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and ATEC Sports on Tuesday.

Brohawn, who completed his 10th season at the helm, entered 2024 needing to replace a 14-member senior class that matriculated at the end of 2023. Augmenting his roster with a robust freshman class and keen use of the transfer portal, Brohawn's Sea Gulls went 32-12, eclipsing 30 wins for the seventh consecutive season, and finished the year ranked 13th nationally after spending the majority of the campaign in the top five. Salisbury qualified for a 24th straight NCAA Tournament, won a fourth consecutive Regional title, and hosted its third straight Super Regional.

The 2024 Sea Gulls featured a well-rounded lineup that earned top-40 national rankings in numerous statistical categories, including team batting average (.326), doubles (99), ERA (4.16), fielding percentage (.969), home runs (46), on-base percentage (.443), runs per game (9.1), sacrifice bunts (46), slugging percentage (.500), and WHIP (1.33).

Under Brohawn's tutelage, SU produced nine All-Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) selections; the C2C Player of the Year (Andrew Kell), Rookie of the Year (Cole Williams), and Scholar-Athlete of the Year (Adam Tommer); five All-Region honorees (Kell, Tim Petrucelli, Danny Sheeler, Kyle Brex, Dylan Winebrenner) and the D3baseball.com Region 5 Player of the Year (Kell); two consensus All-Americans (Kell, Petrucelli); and the Perfect Game Division III Player of the Year (Kell).

This is Brohawn's second career ABCA/ATEC Regional Coach of the Year honor. He was christened the South Region Coach of the Year in 2021 along with National Coach of the Year after leading Salisbury to its first national championship.

Through the end of the 2024 season, Brohawn boasts a 312-90-2 record over his 10 years as the Sea Gulls' head coach; his .775 career winning percentage is currently second among active Division III head coaches and third among active coaches across all levels of the NCAA. With SU's 8-4 victory over York (Pa.) on April, 8, Brohawn became the third SU head coach to win 300 games.

Salisbury University is a proud member of NCAA Division III with primary membership in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference, along with the New Jersey Athletic Conference for football and men's and women's swimming, and the Coastal Lacrosse Conference for men's lacrosse.
