Glushakow honored as CSC Academic All-American

GREENWOOD, Ind. – After an excellent Sea Gull career, defensive midfielder Braden Glushakow of the Salisbury University men's lacrosse team was picked for an exclusive group of stellar student-athletes, landing on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America First Team on Wednesday afternoon.

Glushakow, a graduate student from Hebron, Md., represents the 50th Academic All-American in the history of Salisbury athletics. He joins fellow spring honorees Abby Mace, Meghan Reed, Sam Bodmer, and Natalie Held as Academic All-America picks during the 2023-24 academic year.

Salisbury's 2023 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year completed an undergraduate degree in Marketing with a 3.90 grade-point average (GPA) before earning a Master of Business Administration degree with an unblemished 4.00 GPA. A Clarke Honors College student and a 10-time Dean's List honoree, Glushakow holds membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, and Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Societies.

Glushakow has also served as a Sea Gull Century volunteer and helped families in need during the holiday season alongside Santa's Angels.

On the field, Glushakow garnered a First-Team All-American nod from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) after aiding a Salisbury defensive group that ranked 10th nationally in scoring defense (7.73) and 23rd in caused turnovers per game (12.32). He was tabbed a second-teamer by USA Lacrosse Magazine and was named the region's top short-stick defensive midfielder by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA).

Glushakow appeared in all 21 games with 20 starts in 2024, totaling 31 ground balls and contributing six caused turnovers while scoring his ninth and 10th career goals in 2024.

With Glushakow's selection to the First Team, SU surpasses the prior school record for Academic All-Americans in a single semester, previously set with four in the spring of 2016. Salisbury's five total honorees in 2023-24 rank second in the history of the award in a single academic year trailing only 2015-16 (six).

Glushakow was voted to the Academic All-America team from the pool of Academic All-District honorees. The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects of the 2023-24 Division III Academic All-America program.
Salisbury University is a proud member of NCAA Division III with primary membership in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference, along with the New Jersey Athletic Conference for football and men's and women's swimming, and the Coastal Lacrosse Conference for men's lacrosse. With over 500 student-athletes in 23 varsity sports, SU is recognized as one of the most competitive intercollegiate athletics programs regardless of division, featuring dedicated coaches and staff that foster excellence on and off the field. The Sea Gulls have celebrated 23 team national championships, 24 individual national champions, 199 conference championships, and 50 Academic All-Americans.
