SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Salisbury University field hockey program opened up the 2024 season with a 6-1 win over No. 21 Swarthmore College Friday afternoon on Clothier Field.
The Sea Gulls (1-0) held the Garnets (0-1) scoreless for the first three periods of the contest. Salisbury got the scoring started in the first period when junior
McKenna Horner scored off an assist from sophomore
Regan Nacrelli. Salisbury added to its lead before the period was over when senior
Emma Abromavage found the back of the goal with a pass from junior
Madelyn Reed.
Salisbury scored in each period of the game, including two goals in the second and one in the third and fourth periods. Five different Sea Gulls scored on the afternoon with sophomore
Alex Kupper leading the way with two goals while also adding an assist. Swarthmore tallied more shots and penalty corners than Salisbury for the game but could not convert like the Sea Gulls.
