Game Recap: Field Hockey | | Will DeBoer

No. 4 Field Hockey blanks No. 13 York (Pa.) for fifth straight shutout

YORK, Pa. – Behind a quick offensive strike and its usual suffocating defense, the fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team stiff-armed the 13th-ranked York (Pa.) Spartans, 4-0, extending its shutout streak to five games on Wednesday evening at Kinsley Field.

The Sea Gulls didn't have to wait long to get into the scoring column as Morgan Bradford powered one into the back of the net exactly one minute into the game. Salisbury controlled the rhythm for the rest of a quiet first quarter, then in the second SU put the game on lockdown with three goals in a five-minute stretch.

In the 19th minute, Marli McDorman found Alex Kupper, who deposited a shot into the cage to double the Sea Gull advantage. Two minutes later, Bradford struck for a second tally, and three minutes after that it was McDorman who tickled the twine, powering Salisbury to a 4-0 lead.

SU kept the pressure on the Spartan defense throughout the second half, limiting YCP to one shot each in the third and fourth quarters as the maroon and gold milked the clock and secured another clean sheet.
