No. 4 Field Hockey floods Oswego State for sixth straight shutout

SALISBURY, Md. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team hit the gas from the get-go and never looked back, trouncing the Oswego State Lakers, 8-0, on Saturday night at Sea Gull Stadium.

After a barrage of penalty corner attempts in the first six minutes, Madelyn Reed finally kicked the door down with a strike off a rebound. Then in the 10th minute, Marli McDorman carved up the defense for a nifty tally to double the SU lead at 2-0.

Salisbury kept the pressure up in the second quarter. In the 20th minute, Caroline Pusey took a deflection and chipped one in from midrange. Just over a minute later, Kaitlyn DeModna drew a penalty stroke and fired it into the top left corner, giving the Sea Gulls a 4-0 cushion at the break.

SU broke the mold with three goals in the third quarter, one by Kelly Webber in the 36th minute and a pair by Morgan Davis in the 43rd and 45th, extending the margin to 7-0. In the fourth, Ramsey Coffman tickled the twine at the 48th minute, and Salisbury parked it from there to remain undefeated in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
