SALISBURY, Md. – The 22nd-ranked Salisbury University men's swimming team had no trouble securing the win in its first dual meet of the season, cruising past the Marymount (Va.) Saints 241-96 on Saturday afternoon at Maggs Pool.
MEET NOTES
- Cameron Byrd impressed in his first collegiate action with three gold medals and one silver. Byrd secured solo victories in 400-meter freestyle (4:18.51) and 200 butterfly (2:08.39) while finishing runner-up in the 200 individual medley (2:11.38).
- Mason Potts won four gold medals on the day, including solo dubs in the 100 free (53.06) and 100 backstroke (57.20).
- Owen Mahoney took a gold in the 200 free (1:56.74) while securing bronzes in the 100 free (54.15) and 200 IM (2:16.16).
- Michael Paulos garnered a gold in the 100 IM (1:00.48) and a bronze in the 50 butterfly (26.19).
- Aidan Loehr captured four medals on the day, including a solo title in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.76) and second in the 50 fly (25.94).
- Michael DeSimone eanred a trio of gold medals, including solo in the 50 free (24.13).
- Salisbury opened the day with a convincing win in the 200 medley relay. The A-crew of Potts, Loehr, Byrd, and DeSimone posted a 1:43.80 mark for the win.
- In the 200 free relay, Potts, Loehr, DeSimone, and Everett Rachael broke the Maggs Pool record with a gold-worthy time of 1:34.53.
- SU finished the day with 39 medals – 16 gold, 11 silver, and 12 bronze.
MAGGS POOL RECORDS
The Sea Gulls will have two weeks to prepare for a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) showdown with Rowan on Saturday, Nov. 1. First events from Maggs Pool are slated for 12 p.m.
