No. 8 Field Hockey collects three major SUNYAC awards; seven named to All-SUNYAC Team

SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 8 Salisbury University field hockey team racked up three of the major State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Field Hockey awards, and seven Sea Gulls were named to the All-SUNYAC teams, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Head coach Dawn Chamberlin and her staff were named SUNYAC Coaching Staff of the Year, junior Marli McDorman was named SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year, and senior Madelyn Reed was named SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Chamberlin and her staff posted an overall record of 17-2 this season, fresh off a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship. With the win, coach Chamberlin earned her 600th career win with the Sea Gulls. This is the first season that Salisbury competed in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) as an associate member and was able to claim the Title in year one. 

McDorman, the Pocomoke City, Md. native, has tallied 17 goals this season along with 10 assists for a total of 44 points. She is coming off a hat trick in the SUNYAC Championship game. This was her second hat trick of the year and fourth multi-score game. McDorman posted three game winners along with a .670 shooting percentage. 

Reed, the Felton, Del. native, posted three goals with eight assists for a total of 14 points. She posted two game winners, leading one of the top mid-fields and defenses in the country. 

Kaitlyn DeModna, McKenna Horner, and Kelly Davis earned First-Team honors, while Regan Worley and Morgan Bradford tallied Second-Team Honors. 

DeModna, the Brewster, N.Y. native, posted nine goals with four assists. Four different times this year, she tallied multi-score games. Horner, the Deal Island, Md. native, posted 15 goals and four assists, which included one hat trick and three multi-score games. Davis, the Salisbury, Md. native, started every game in goal for the Sea Gulls this year, boasting a 17-2 record with 14 shutouts and a goal against average of .63 and a save percentage of .783.

Worley, the Poquoson, Va. native, posted 10 defensive saves, which included three against Rowan. She had three games where she tallied multiple defensive saves. Bradford, the Delmar, Del. native, tallied nine goals with four assists for 22 points. 

The Sea Gulls take on Denison inside Sea Gull Stadium this afternoon at 4 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
