SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's swimming team picked up some key momentum heading into next week's midseason crescendo, roasting the Swarthmore Garnet 169.5-92.5 on Saturday afternoon at Ware Pool.
MEET NOTES
- Mason Potts secured four gold medals and tied for a meet high with 18 points. He took solo titles in both the 100-yard freestyle (46.68) and 100 backstroke (51.05).
- Matt Merke matched Potts with 18 points en route to gold medals in the 1,000 free (9:47.62) and 200 individual medley (1:57.68).
- Owen Mahoney reeled in a gold, silver, and bronze on the day, taking first in the 500 free (4:47.44), second in the 1,000 free behind Merke (9:59.96), and third in the 200 butterfly (1:57.20).
- Aidan Loehr collected a haul of three golds and one silver. Individually, he took first in the 100 breaststroke (57.64) and second in the 200 breast (2:11.84).
- Brady Wolf snagged a gold in the 200 breast (2:11.07) and bronze in the 100 breast (59.44).
- Salisbury led off the day with gold and silver in the 200 medley relay. The SU A-team of Potts, Loehr, Michael Paulos, and Everett Rachael touched the wall first in 1:32.02.
- In the meet-ending 200 free relay, Potts, Rachael, Michael DeSimone, and Loehr bested the field by over two seconds, posting a golden mark of 1:24.22.
- SU secured a total of 11 gold, seven silver, and eight bronze for 26 medals on the day.
The Sea Gulls now set their sights on the three-day Yellow Jacket Invitational on Friday through Sunday, Nov. 21-23, at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va. Salisbury is the midseason meet's defending champion after besting a field of seven teams in 2024.
