HAMPTON, Va. – The Salisbury University women's swimming team has a Yellow Jacket Invitational title in its sights after day two-of-three in the water on Saturday afternoon at the Hampton Aquaplex.
The Sea Gulls boast 896 points to lead the field of eight teams, over 100 points clear of second-place Washington & Lee (777) with Randolph-Macon (414) a distant third.
PRELIMS
- Qualifying for the finals in the 400-yard individual medley: Addi Wood (4:36.96, 2nd), Sadie Hebert (4:38.72, 3rd), Katelyn Johnston (4:45.45, 7th), Makenzie O'Brien (4:51.66, 10th), Morgan Adams (4:52.45, 11th).
- Finalists in the 100 butterfly: Lily Griffin (56.11, 2nd), Olivia Polucha (57.40, 5th), Libby Miyashita (57.85, 6th), Sierra Wakefield (1:00.95, 12th), Kayla Ciaccia (1:02.64, 19th).
- Qualifying for the finals in the 200 freestyle: Rowan Odonoghue (1:55.47, 1st), Rachel Rickabaugh (1:56.39, 2nd), Jenna Krawlzik (1:56.89, 3rd), Alexa Hilty (1:58.06, 5th), Grace Wienckowski (2:00.02, 13th), Kaitlyn McGuire (2:01.35, 17th).
- Finalists in the 100 breaststroke: Mackenzie Gula (1:06.32, 2nd), Samantha Watson (1:06.57, 3rd), Maddie Powell (1:06.66, 4th), Kira Brown (1:09.49, 12th).
- Finalists in the 100 backstroke: Isabelle Salvatore (58.35, 2nd), Logan Bagley (59.09, 3rd), Delaney Gibbons (1:00.83, 7th), Ashlyn Swaim (1:02.47, 13th).
FINALS
- Salisbury took the gold medal in the 800 free relay, with A-teamers Addi Wood, Olivia Polucha, Kira Brown, and Sadie Hebert breaking the proverbial tape in 7:46.69.
- In the 200 medley relay, SU took one-two on the podium with the B-team pulling the upset over the A-team. B-siders Logan Bagley, Mackenzie Gula, Hebert, and Kaitlyn McGuire touched up first in 1:46.62, with A-siders Isabelle Salvatore, Samantha Watson, Lily Griffin, and Rowan Odonoghue placing just behind in 1:46.84.
- Wood (4:34.50) and Hebert (4:40.08) finished second and fourth, respectively, in the 400 IM.
- Griffin (56.56), Polucha (56.90), and Libby Miyashita (56.98) took second-through-fourth in the 100 fly.
- Odonoghue topped the field in the 200 free in 1:52.13. Rachel Rickabaugh earned silver in 1:55.97, while Jenna Krawlzik (1:56.37) just missed the podium in fourth.
- Maddie Powell (1:04.51) and Gula (1:04.69) secured gold and silver in the 100 breast, while Watson (1:06.67) slotted fourth.
- Salvatore touched up second in the 100 back in 58.21 seconds.
PROGRAM RECORDS
The Sea Gulls will look to lock it down in the stretch run during day three of the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Sunday. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 5 p.m.
