HAMPTON, Va. – The 20th-ranked Salisbury University men's swimming team finished on the podium at the 2025 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Swimming & Diving Championships, earning third place after the fourth and final day of competition on Sunday at the Hampton Aquaplex.
The Sea Gulls racked up a total of 1,181.5 points over the weekend, finishing just behind second-place Merchant Marine (1,190) but well ahead of fourth-place Rowan (971) to clinch a team bronze medal. TCNJ (1,714) won the league title.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Salisbury won its first gold medal at a conference championship meet in five years in the 400-yard freestyle relay – the final race of the competition. Mason Potts, Michael DeSimone, Themo Rigakos, and Owen Brewer teamed up for a program-record mark of 3:00.74, led by Brewer's anchor split of 44.75 seconds.
- Christopher Knorr earned a silver medal in the 200-yard butterfly, breaking his own program record with a mark of 1:48.98.
- Potts and Brewer added top-five finishes in the 100-yard freestyle, with Potts (44.90) clocking in at fourth and Brewer (45.66) at fifth. DeSimone (46.24) also finished 10th in the event.
- Matt Merke finished fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:02.11, while Ethan Lloyd (16:07.38) and Kyle Skelly (16:15.74) finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
- Brody Hanlon (2:04.92) finished seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Brady Wolf (2:04.88) following closely behind in ninth.
- Lucas Mitchell took eighth place in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:54.57, while Gabe Erb (1:52.84) took ninth.
Those Sea Gulls who met national qualification benchmarks will now advance to the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, slated for Mar. 19-22 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
