Women’s Lacrosse, Softball earn notable preseason marks

SALISBURY, Md. – Presenting "Roadie Joes Rankings" for the first Wednesday in February. The Salisbury University women's lacrosse and softball teams earned notable positions in their preseason rankings, while swimming kept top marks as they prepare for this month's conference championship.
 
Women's Lacrosse – 4th | USA Lacrosse Division III Top 20, Preseason
Salisbury slotted fourth in one of the sport's top media organization's preseason rankings, just ahead of fifth-ranked Washington & Lee. Reigning national champion Middlebury earned the top spot, followed by Tufts and Franklin & Marshall in second and third, respectively.
 
The Sea Gulls are coming off an 18-4 season and an appearance in the NCAA national championship game in 2024. SU begins the 2025 slate against Stevenson on Friday, with opening draw control from Sea Gull Stadium set for 5 p.m.
 
Softball – 13th | NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25, Feb. 4
Salisbury secured 130 points in the preseason poll, holding a position between 12th-ranked Williams (140) and 14th-ranked Texas Lutheran (120).
 
The Sea Gulls posted a 39-7 record and won their third straight NCAA regional title in 2024. Opening Day for the 2025 season is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 1, with SU battling 16th-ranked Rochester and Swarthmore in a tripleheader beginning at 10:30 a.m.
 
Men's Swimming – 16th | Swimcloud Division III Championship Team Rankings
Salisbury is clocked at 632.14 points per quality of swims based on US Open records, just under 15th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer (634.85) and above 17th-ranked Hope (629.49). The Sea Gulls wrapped up the regular season 6-1 in dual meets and will chase their first conference title at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Feb. 13-16 in Hampton, Va.
 
Women's Swimming – 19th | Swimcloud Division III Championship Team Rankings
Salisbury has put up 590.77 points per quality of swims, holding space just under 18th-ranked Middlebury (593.53) and above 20th-ranked Colby (589.85). The 7-0 Sea Gulls will try and with their first conference title in program history at the NJAC Championships on Feb. 13-16 in Hampton, Va.
