Women’s Golf shoots program low at Pride of Maryland Invitational

LUTHERVILLE, Md. – The Salisbury University women's golf team set a new program record for lowest team score in a round, locking in for the Pride of Maryland Invitational on Friday afternoon at Pine Ridge Golf Club.
 
The Sea Gulls shot a 419 as a team, four strokes under their previous best of 423. SU finished fourth in the field behind Hood (363), Stevenson (376), and Goucher (397).
 
ROUND NOTES
  • Cailin McCoy earned her first career top-10 finish, placing ninth in the field of 23 by shooting a 23-over 95 for the round. McCoy shot par on seven holes.
  • Emma Wivell finished right behind McCoy in 10th, chipping in four pars and notching a 27-over 99.
  • Isabella Casey shot a 38-over 110, finishing 18th, while Madison Tipton took 20th with a 43-over 115.
  • Kaeli Newcomb posted SU's drop score for the round with a 50-over 122, placing 22nd.
 
The Sea Gulls will wrap up their spring slate at the Stevenson Spring Invitational on Monday. Tee time from Piney Branch Golf Club in Upperco, Md., is clocked for 11 a.m.
