PITMAN, N.J. – The Salisbury University men's swimming team capped a banner year with
nine placements on the 2025 All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Teams, setting a program record with 24 men's honorees across the nine events, as revealed by the league office on Tuesday morning.
Headlining the group was the 400 freestyle relay team of
Mason Potts,
Michael DeSimone,
Themo Rigakos, and
Owen Brewer, who garnered First-Team honors by virtue of winning the gold medal in the event at February's NJAC Swimming & Diving Championships in Hampton, Va.
The Sea Gulls secured two Second-Team nods, one by
Christopher Knorr (200 fly) and one by the 400 medley relay team (Potts,
Brady Wolf, Knorr, Brewer). SU's six Honorable Mention selections include Potts (50 free, 100 fly),
Shane Hall (200 free), the 200 free relay team (DeSimone, Potts, Rigakos,
Aidan Loehr), the 800 free relay team (Brewer, Hall,
Brody Hanlon,
Kyle Skelly), and the 200 medley relay (Potts,
Gabriele Miksa, Brewer, DeSimone).
In the final event of championship weekend, Potts (Fr. – Landsdale, Pa.), DeSimone (Jr. – Cranford, N.J.), Rigakos (So. – Ocean View, Del.), and Brewer (So. – Mechanicsburg, Pa.) teamed up to earn Salisbury's first men's gold medal at a conference meet in five years, touching up in the 400 free relay in a program-record 3:00.74.
Knorr (5th – Baltimore, Md.) secured SU's highest individual placement in an NJAC event in the 200 fly, taking the silver medal by breaking his own program record (1:48.98). In the 400 medley relay, Potts, Wolf (So. – Wyomissing, Pa.), Knorr, and Brewer took second place in 3:16.93, setting a new school record and finishing less than a second off of first place.
Potts nabbed a pair of solo bronze medals, taking third place in the 50 free (school-record 20.22) and 100 fly (48.77), giving him five NJAC medals in his rookie season. Hall (So. – Selbyville, Del.) garnered third place in the 200 free (1:40.69) by finishing less than half a second off the program record.
A trio of bronzes in relay events assured SU of a medal in all five relays for the meet. The 200 free relay saw DeSimone, Potts, Rigakos, and Loehr (Fr. – Fulton, Md.) break a program record in 1:22.25. In the 800 free relay, Brewer, Hall, Hanlon (Fr. – Mt. Airy, Md.), and Skelly (So. – Wilmington, Del.) set their own school record in 1:41.25. The 200 medley relay featured Potts, Miksa (Jr. – Doylestown, Pa.), Brewer, and DeSimone making it five program records in five relays with a time of 1:29.26.
The collection of All-NJAC honors caps a 2024-25 season that saw the Sea Gull men earn their first-ever College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) national ranking, go 6-1 in dual meets, win the Yellow Jacket Invitational in November, and place third as a team at the NJAC Championships.
