PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Salisbury University track and field teams opened strong during their first day at the 129th annual Penn Relays on Friday at Franklin Field.

Day One Meet Notes

• The men's 4x100 relay team of Jacob Shelton, Mason Cassady, Aaron Dufresne, and Kai Smith posted a time of 41.25, which earned them a spot in the finals on day two tomorrow. That time currently sits them in 8^th.
• The women's 4x100 relay team of Emma Christman, Marlyse Haack, Lilly Williams, and Karia Forvil posted a time of 48.27, which placed them 6^th and into the finals on day two.
• Logan Kelsch placed 20^th in the discus, competing against multiple Division I opponents. Kelsch posted a throw of 46.16 meters (153-11).
• The men's 4x400 relay team of Isaiah Rivera, Hayden Myers, Justin Freeman, and Kai Smith earned a 2^nd place finish with a time of 3:15.39, advancing them into the finals on day two.
• The women's 4x400 relay team of Marlyse Haack, Lilly Williams, Karia Forvil, and Emma Smyser placed 11^th with a time of 3:59.78.

The Sea Gulls will be back in action looking for a title on day two of the Penn Relays, beginning at 4:05 p.m. with the men's 4x100 relay. The women's 4x100 with follow.
