Men’s Basketball earns NABC Academic Excellence Award; Three named to Honors Court

Oates, Davis lock down repeat Honors Court selections

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team was named a recipient of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award and three Sea Gulls – Aidan Camper, Brendan Davis and Jordan Oates – were named to the Honors Court, announced by the association on Thursday afternoon.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, while the Honors Court features junior, senior and graduate students who finished the campaign with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The SU men's basketball team concluded the year with a 3.2 team GPA to qualify for the academic acknowledgement.

Oates, a graduate forward from Hanover, Md., concluded his Sea Gull career with a 3.9 GPA pursuing a Master of Business Administration. The Sea Gull great averaged a double-double for the fourth time in five seasons, finishing his SU tenure ranking fifth all-time in points (1,528) and fourth in rebounds (1,216) while earning a third consecutive selection to the NABC Honors Court and being named the 51st College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American in school history.

Davis, a graduate guard from Annapolis, Md., lands on his second consecutive NABC Honors Court after completing his Master of Business Administration with a 3.6 GPA. The Broadneck product averaged a career best 9.9 points and 4.6 assists per game in 21 starts before injury and earned the team's Jack Ferguson Leadership Award, the highest individual honor bestowed upon one member of SU men's basketball each season.

Camper, a junior guard from Beltsville, Md., touts a 3.4 GPA as a Finance major at Salisbury. On the floor, the Sandy Spring Friends product averaged career-highs in nearly every statistical category including points (5.3), rebounds (2.0), assists (1.5) and minutes (22.3) while appearing in 27 games with six starts.

"Education is one of the NABC's five core values, and we are proud to recognize the academic accomplishments of these programs and individual student-athletes across our sport," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "The dedication and hard work of these athletes, along with their coaches and support staff members who prioritize academic success, deserves to be widely celebrated."

Over 2,400 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and nearly 400 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards in the 2024-25 season.
