No. 4 Field Hockey shuts out Stevenson

SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 4 Salisbury University field hockey program shut out Stevenson University 2-0 Wednesday night inside Sea Gull Stadium.

The Sea Gulls (5-1) outshot Stevenson (5-1) 4-0 in the first quarter of action while also earning two penalty corners, but could not sneak a goal past the Mustang defense. The Stevenson offense came alive in the second period, posting all three shots for the game in the second quarter alone.

But it was the SU offense that would capitalize on a penalty corner as the first half ended, when Caroline Pusey found Marli McDorman, who hammered one home. The Sea Gulls headed into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.

The Gulls posted six shots in the third frame but were not able to add to the lead. In the first minute of the fourth quarter, Alex Kupper dribbled past multiple Mustangs and beat the Stevenson goalkeeper, giving the Sea Gulls a commanding 2-0 lead.

Game Notes
- Kupper has scored in three of her last four games.
- Kelly Davis earned her fourth shutout of the season while making three saves.

Salisbury is back inside Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday, September 20th, when they host No. 10 Shenandoah for Alumni Day at 1 p.m.
