SALISBURY, Md. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team dominated in all faces of the game, taking a 3-0 shutout over the 10th-ranked Shenandoah Hornets on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.
The Sea Gulls didn't take long to find the back of the cage as
McKenna Horner scooped up a rebound and deposited the first goal just over two minutes into the game. Then with a minute to play in the first quarter,
Caroline Pusey corralled a deflection off a penalty corner shot and launched a rocket from close to the top of the fan, tucking it in the far corner to double the Salisbury lead at 2-0.
Salisbury kept their foot on the gas through the second, finishing the half outshooting the Hornets 8-0. With two minutes left until the break,
Marli McDorman weaved her way into the circle and finessed a backhand past the keeper, giving the Gulls a 3-0 cushion at halftime.
The Sea Gulls clamped down in the second half, allowing Shenandoah to get off just one shot and easily salting away a 3-0 clean sheet.
