SALISBURY, Md. – Three Salisbury University student-athletes became the season's first Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Players of the Week by securing weekly hardware from the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) and the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).
Volleyball's
Gwen Eustace blasted her way to C2C Offensive Player of the Week, while third-ranked field hockey's
Marli McDorman gave the Sea Gulls their first SUNYAC Offensive Athlete of the Week in the first week of their conference debut, and cross country's
Tristan Dutton hauled in C2C Men's Athlete of the Week.
Gwen Eustace | C2C Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week | Fourth Career (First This Season)
Eustace (Sr. – Olney, Md.) captured the league's first weekly offensive honor for the second straight season, posting a remarkable .698 hitting percentage with 33 kills (3.30 K/S) during the Sea Gulls' 2-1 opening weekend. She registered nine, 13, and 11 kills against Penn State Altoona, Thiel, and UW-Oshkosh, respectively, while committing just one error in all three matches. Eustace also went for nine blocks (four solo) and four digs.
Marli McDorman | SUNYAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week | Fifth Career (First This Season)
McDorman (Jr. – Pocomoke City, Md.) turned her first career hat trick, scoring three goals on five shots in the Sea Gulls' 5-2 Opening Day triumph over Stockton. It was her fourth career multi-goal game and first since a trio of two-goal efforts in 2023. McDorman, who scored 10 goals in each of her first two seasons at SU, is now 30 percent of the way toward that mark after just one appearance.
Tristan Dutton | C2C Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week | First Career
Dutton (Sr. – Bishopville, Md.) took second place at the season-opening SU Fall Classic on Saturday, crossing the finish line in 25:21.90 to set a new personal record. One of three Sea Gulls to finish in the top five, Dutton's marker helped Salisbury win the home meet by five points over Navy.
