No. 4 Field Hockey steamrolls Cortland in SUNYAC opener

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team made an emphatic opening statement in its first-ever State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup, smashing the Cortland Red Dragons 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Cortland Stadium Complex.

The Sea Gulls double-dipped in the game's fifth minute, starting when Kaitlyn DeModna fired one on target and Morgan Bradford deflected it into the cage. Just 22 seconds later, McKenna Horner picked up a rebound off the post and chipped it in, giving Salisbury a quick 2-0 advantage that it would maintain into halftime.

SU struck quickly again in the third quarter, this time as a Regan Nacrelli attempt from a tough left-side angle scooted past the keeper to make it 3-0. The fourth quarter belonged to Marli McDorman, who took a feed from DeModna in the 47th minute and blasted into the net, followed by a spinning putback tally just two minutes later to give the game its final 5-0 margin.
