SALISBURY, Md. – Two Salisbury University student-athletes captured the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Players of the Week spotlight by earning recognition from the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C).
Volleyball's
Gwen Eustace and
Sophia Tapia gave the Sea Gulls their first sweep of C2C Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, this season.
Gwen Eustace | C2C Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week | Fifth Career (Second This Season)
Eustace (Sr. – Olney, Md.) posted a .597 hitting percentage over five matches during the week, landing 47 kills (2.94 K/S) against just four errors to help the Sea Gulls go 4-1 and improve to 10-4. In three of the matches Eustace notched at least eight kills without an error against her, including 10 errorless strikes to beat St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday. Eustace leads all of NCAA Division III with a .510 swing rate, 48 points better than the next-best mark.
Sophia Tapia | C2C Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week | First Career
Tapia (So. – Tenafly, N.J.) registered 20 blocks (eight solo) over five matches, averaging 1.25 blocks per set to lead SU to four wins. Tapia clocked in with back-to-back six-block performances against Drew and Kean on Friday and Saturday and posted multiple solo stuffs in three of the five matchups. Tapia currently ranks 16th nationally in total blocks (52) and 49th in blocks per set (1.02).
