SALISBURY, Md. – The 16th-ranked Salisbury University men's swimming team blitzed their way through the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats, 212-49, setting six venue records and honoring its 11-member senior class on Saturday afternoon at Maggs Pool.
MEET NOTES
- Senior Dominic Kazzi turned in a strong performance in his final home meet with three gold medals, including solo titles in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:03.19) and 200 individual medley (2:09.44). Kazzi set pool records in all three of his events.
- Owen Mahoney saw gold in a pair of freestyle races, touching first in both the 200 free (1:54.16) and 400 free (4:02.53).
- Brady Wolf snagged first-place finishes in the 200 breast (2:19.76) and 200 butterfly (2:08.58).
- Michael DeSimone saw gold three times, twice as anchors of Salisbury's relay sides and once solo in the 50 free (23.49).
- Mason Potts made it another triple-gold afternoon with two leading off the relays and one in the 100 backstroke (58.08).
- Salisbury took the top two places in the meet-opening 200 medley relay. The A-team Potts, Kazzi, Cameron Byrd, and DeSimone blew away the field in 1:40.69. Nick Corcoran, Aidan Loehr, Owen Brewer, and Everett Rachael on the B-side secured silver at 1:44.36.
- SU wrapped up proceedings with another 1-2 showing in the 200 free relay. Potts, Rachael, Brewer, and DeSimone from the A-side touched first in 1:33.33. The B-team that rolled in at 1:36.09 for second featured Byrd, Griffin Harris, Samuel Halligan, and Loehr.
- The Sea Gulls won the gold medal in all 14 events on the day and narrowly missed a sweep of the silver with 13. Adding in the eight bronzes, SU logged an impressive 35 of a possible 42 medals on the day.
MAGGS POOL RECORDS
The Sea Gulls are set for two more dual meets to close out the regular season, the first of which will be at Catholic next Saturday. The teams hit the lanes in Washington, D.C. at 1 p.m.
