Men’s Golf places fourth at marathon Stevenson Shootout

UPPERCO, Md. – The Salisbury University men's golf team stayed solid through a double-stuffed day on the links, logging all 10 cards at under 80 strokes and finishing in the top four of the 36-hole Stevenson Fall Shootout on Thursday at Piney Branch Golf Club.
 
The Sea Gulls opened the day with a round-one 22-over 306, following it up with a seven-stroke improvement in round two at a 15-over 299. Salisbury's combined 37-over 605 was good for fourth in the field of 14 teams, one stroke back of third-place Alvernia (604) and well clear of fifth-place Stevenson (609).
 
ROUND NOTES
  • Ryan Henneman finished tied for 10th in the field of 77 golfers, carding a four-over 75 in the opening round and closing at a three-over 74 for a total of seven-over 149.
  • Cole Velardo carded a five-over 76 and a four-over 75, placing tied for 13th at a nine-over 151.
  • Parker Pruitt took a 17th-place tie with an 11-over 153, melding together a seven-over 78 and a four-over 75 across the long day.
  • Colton Thomas made it four Sea Gulls in the top 21, shooting an eight-over 79 and a four-over 75 for a 12-over 154 that slotted tied for 21st.
  • Gage Bandy registered a tie for 27th after carding a 14-over 156 across a six-over 77 and an eight-over 79.
 
The Sea Gulls will return to the conventional two-round, two-day format on Monday and Tuesday at the Alvernia Fall Invitational, which will be hosted at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Md.
