HAMPTON, Va. – The 18th-ranked Salisbury University men's swimming team hit national benchmarks and secured a pair of silver medals on Day 1 of the 2026 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Thursday evening at the Hampton Aquaplex.
Opening the four-day meet with the 200-yard medley relay, the Sea Gulls got a silver-medal mark of 1:26.99 from
Mason Potts,
Dominic Kazzi,
Michael Paulos, and
Michael DeSimone. The foursome dropped 1.63 seconds from its entry marker to finish a mere 17 hundredths of a second back of gold medalists TCNJ. Potts, Kazzi, Paulos, and DeSimone also broke the NCAA B-cut time to make the short list for nationals in the event.
In the 800 free relay, SU finished half a second back of TCNJ for the silver, with
Cameron Byrd,
Everett Rachael,
Shane Hall, and
Owen Brewer posting a 6:36.39 marker that cut 9.21 seconds from their entry time. Hall boasted the quartet's best 200-yard split at 1:38.19, helping the Sea Gulls achieve another NCAA B-cut for the night.
Salisbury wraps up day one of four in Hampton slotting fourth in the field of nine with 112. TCNJ (201), Merchant Marine (193), and Mary Washington (123) currently sit in the podium positions; all three teams earned points from the first diving event of the meet.
The Sea Gulls will return to the water for Day 2 of the NJAC Championships on Friday. Prelims will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by finals at 5:30 p.m.
