HAMPTON, Va. – The 18th-ranked Salisbury University swimming team saw its stock rise after day two of the 2026 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Friday at the Hampton Aquaplex.
The Sea Gulls elevated from fourth to second in the nine-team table with 428 points, overtaking Merchant Marine (375) and Rowan (298). TCNJ holds the lead halfway through the meet with 613 points.
TOP PERFORMERS
- The Sea Gulls grabbed a silver medal in the 400-yard medley relay, with Mason Potts, Dominic Kazzi, Cameron Byrd, and Owen Brewer teaming up for a 3:13.72 mark that cleared the NCAA B-cut standard and finished just 17 hundredths of a second back of the victorious TCNJ quartet.
- Owen Mahoney brought home the other medal on the day for the SU men in the 500 free, placing third in a B-cut worthy 4:30.79. Ethan Lloyd (4:33.72) finished sixth in the event.
- Byrd narrowly missed a spot on the podium in the 200 individual medley; his fourth-place time of 1:51.47 was only six hundredths of a second off the bronze pace. Kazzi took sixth place in 1:52.61.
- Michael DeSimone placed fifth in the 50 free at 20.68 seconds. Potts (20.92) and Brewer (20.73, B-race) finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
The Sea Gulls will look to strengthen their silver positioning on Day 3 of the NJAC Championships on Saturday. Prelims at 9:30 a.m. will lead into finals at 5:30 p.m.
