SALISBURY, Md. – This is "Nest to Nest," a regular series spotlighting the big miles and bigger stories of the Sea Gull student-athletes on each team who traveled the farthest to be at Salisbury University. This week,
Gabriel Kvadus of SU men's track & field brings just southeast of Connecticut's capital city for a slice (or two) of colonial charm.

What would you say your hometown is known for?
I think my town and Connecticut in general is mainly known for its pizza. Down in New Haven there's
Pepe's Pizza – really good pizza there. I definitely miss it when I come down to Salisbury.
What's your favorite hometown hangout spot?
Riverfront Community Center is probably where we hang out the most. That's where our boathouses are, and most of our athletics are played there. It's a fun place.
Which local sports teams do you root for?
UConn is close by and I root for them in Division I sports. Other than that, good old Glastonbury High School!
How did you hear about Salisbury University?
It was mainly through Coach Jones – he reached out to me about Salisbury. We actually had a phone call while I was at a track meet; he seemed like a nice guy, and I wanted to come down and take a visit, and it all happened from there.
What's the biggest difference between life in your hometown and life here in Salisbury?
The biggest difference is that there's no hills down here; it's very, very flat. The first day I came down here, I was supposed to do a hill/sprints workout, and the best way I could do that was the parking garage.
What's something you can turn to that reminds you of your hometown on the days when you miss it?
I'd say calling my parents or just running. Running out on the track kind of gives me hometown vibes; I did the same thing back home that I'm doing right now.
How would you sell someone on visiting your hometown?
Well there's not a ton to do in Connecticut, but if you want solid pizza, we've got it. It's the pizza capital of the United States, and we're proud of it!
