Men’s Golf cruises to Sea Gull Inv’l title

QUANTICO, Md. – The Salisbury University men's golf team successfully defended its home turf for the first time, winning the inaugural Sea Gull Invitational following Sunday's second-round action at Green Hill Country Club.
 
The Sea Gull B-team (Henneman, Pruitt, Langford, Bandy, Bowen) claimed the top prize among the field of 10 teams, shooting a 31-over 319 in the round to post a two-day card of a 61-over 637, seven strokes better than second-place Capital (Ohio) [644] and third-place Alvernia (645). The SU A-team (Thomas, Oglesby, Cahill, Diglio, Carnegie) also finished in the field's top half, posting a 39-over 327 for a two-day, 73-over 649.



 
ROUND NOTES
  • Ryan Henneman claimed his second individual championship of the season, topping the field of 52 individuals with a five-over 149 over the two rounds. Henneman shaved one stroke off his Saturday total with a two-over 74 on Sunday, birdying three of his final four holes and posting five birdies for the day.
  • Colton Thomas claimed the silver medal in the event, finishing runner-up four strokes behind Henneman with a nine-over 153 for the weekend. Thomas posted a five-over 77 on Sunday, including a trio of birdies.
  • Parker Pruitt made major moves on day two of the tournament, cutting four strokes off his opening round with a five-over 77 that featured three birdies. Pruitt vaulted up 10 positions into a tie for fourth place on the final leaderboard with a 14-over 158.
  • Cameron Nicholson also carded a 14-over 158 in the tournament, tying with Pruitt and one other after chipping in a six-over 78 on Sunday.
  • Evan Oglesby gave SU five individuals inside the top 10, finishing tied for seventh with a 15-over 159 after shooting a 10-over 82 in round two.
  • Alex Langford shot an 11-over 83 for the day, good for a two-day, 18-over 162 and a tie for 13th.
  • Vincent Diglio and Gage Bandy matched each other for the second straight day, each shooting 13-over 85s to finish in a tie for 28th at 24-over 168.
  • Dominic Cahill tied for 34th after shooting an 11-over 83 to finish at 26-over 170, while Mason Ellis shot a 12-over 84 and finished at 27-over 171 to tie for 38th.
  • Peter Carnegie carded an 18-over 90 for a two-day, 32-over 176 and 44th place, while Ben Bowen posted a 15-over 87 and a 33-over 177 weekender to take 45th.
 
The Sea Gulls will compete in one last tournament to close out the spring slate, heading up to Bent Creek Country Club in Lititz, Pa. for the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Sunday and Monday, Apr. 19-20.
