Freshman earns first individual crown in women’s program history

QUANTICO, Md. – The Salisbury University women's golf team closed out its breakthrough second season in grand fashion, running away with the Sea Gull Invitational championship after Sunday's second round at Green Hill Country Club.

The Sea Gulls shot a 69-over 357 for the day, good for a two-day marker of a 125-over 701. The score was good enough to top the field of four teams, a full 42 strokes better than second-place Texas Lutheran (743).

  • Krista Brosius captured the first individual title in women's program history, topping the leaderboard of 23 individuals with a two-day card of a 20-over 164. Brosius posted a 12-over 84 in Sunday's round, holding off a challenge from TLU's Belle Asbury to finish two strokes clear of the field.
  • Sydney Lynott earned the bronze for the weekend, finishing third with a 26-over 170. Lynott shaved six strokes off her Saturday round with a 10-over 82 on Sunday, starting off on the right note by birdying the par-four ninth hole.

  • Victoria Heid gave SU four of the top six individual finishers, taking sixth with a 40-over 184 following a 24-over 96 on Sunday.
  • Madison Tipton improved seven strokes from round-to-round, posting a 30-over 102 and tying for 13th with a 67-over 211.
