Women's Lacrosse – 1st | Division III Women's Lacrosse NPI, Apr. 5
Salisbury maintained the top NCAA Power Index position with 73.303 points, with Middlebury (71.960) leading a pack of four NESCAC schools that make up second-through-fifth. SU also stayed pat at fourth in the IWLCA rankings.
The Sea Gulls rolled to two impressive road victories, taking down Neumann 21-3 on Wednesday and Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) rival Mary Washington 14-7 on Saturday.
Miranda Mears and
Abby Fleishell gave the maroon and gold its second straight sweep of the weekly C2C offensive and defensive honors.
SU is set for a ranked road battle on Saturday, calling upon No. 18 TCNJ at 1 p.m. in Ewing, N.J.
Men's Lacrosse – 7th | USILA Division III Top 20, Apr. 6
Salisbury held steady at No. 7 in the coaches' poll with 360 points, taking the spot between No. 6 RIT (375) and co-No. 8s York (Pa.) and Wesleyan (Conn.) [316]. SU also remains ninth in the latest NPI rankings.
The Sea Gulls opened Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) play with a pair of home victories, dispatching Stockton 18-11 on Wednesday and Mary Washington 22-3 on Saturday. Goalkeeper
Matt Sentowski received CLC Defensive Player of the Week honors on the strength of his performance in the Mary Washington game.
SU hits the road for its next two CLC games, starting on Saturday with a visit to Kean at 12 p.m.
Men's Track & Field – 8th | USTFCCCA Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index, Apr. 7
Salisbury catapulted from 24th to eighth in the latest coaches' metrics with 136.19 points, just shy of seventh-ranked SUNY Geneseo (138.18) and comfortably ahead of ninth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer (132.00).
The Sea Gulls continued to gain seasonal momentum at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational at George Mason University over the weekend.
Kai Smith won C2C Track Athlete of the Week after posting 200-meter and 100-meter times that slot him first and fifth, respectively, in all of Division III.
Justin Freeman also set a school record in the 800 meters, entering the national top eight in the event, while
Tristan Dutton posted a top-10 time in the 3,000 steeplechase, and
Gavin Shaffer did the same in the 110 hurdles.
SU is off this weekend before returning home for its Alumni and Senior Day meet, the Eastern Shore Challenge, on Saturday, Apr. 18 at 11 a.m. inside the SU Track & Field Complex.
Baseball – 12th | D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25, Apr. 7
Salisbury slotted at No. 12 with 306 points, taking the spot between 11th-ranked Mount Union (347) and 13th-ranked Christopher Newport (299). SU is also 32nd in the latest NPI.
The Sea Gulls went 2-1 for the week, crushing Marymount (Va.) 10-2 and Widener 11-2 before bowing to CNU 2-0.
Aidan Brinsfield tossed an eight-inning gem on Tuesday to beat MMU, while
Tyler Villa went seven strong despite the loss against the Captains.
SU opened a busy week with an 8-1 win at Arcadia on Tuesday. After a Thursday home date with Virginia Wesleyan, the Sea Gulls will visit Randolph-Macon on Saturday before turning around to host the Yellow Jackets on Sunday.
