STEVENSON, Md. - The No. 2 Salisbury University field hockey program fell 4-1 against No. 11 Stevenson University on the road Wednesday night in their third straight ranked matchup.
Stevenson (7-0) struck first 10 minutes into the contest, taking a 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Salisbury (5-1) tied the game up in the first minute of the second frame with a goal from
Tessa Gray off an assist by
Layla Kent.
The Sea Gulls outshot the Mustangs 8-6 in the first half of action that was tied 1-1 on the scoreboard. Stevenson earned one more corner in the first half than Salisbury, with three to the Sea Gulls' two.
Stevenson regained the lead quickly in the second half, scoring just three minutes into the third quarter. The Sea Gulls headed into the fourth quarter trailing 2-1. Two goals in the final quarter of action sealed the upset for the Mustangs.

- The Sea Gulls earned the first goal against the Stevenson defense of the season.
- Salisbury outshot Stevenson 17-12 and put nine of those 17 on target.
- Stevenson earned five penalty corners compared to Salisbury's three.
