WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Salisbury University
men's and women's tennis teams swept Capital Athletic Conference
and Atlantic South region opponent Catholic University on the road
Friday in Washington, D.C.
The Salisbury women's team (6-4 overall, 3-0 CAC), ranked No. 14
in the region, won all of its matches in straight sets. Salisbury's
top two teammates, seniors Erika Mitry and
Jenny Rosler, both won their respective singles'
matches and later united and won their No. 1 doubles match.
The SU men's team (11-2, CAC 3-0), ranked No. 8 in the region,
also won all of its matches in straight sets. Sophomore
Matt Nicholson, ranked No. 14 in the region,
defeated Catholic ace Andrew Kracht to set the tone. Nicholson
later teamed up with fellow Sea Gull Brendan
Kincaid for doubles play where they won 8-1.
Salisbury will be back in action Saturday at home against
Hollins College on the women's side and face the University of Mary
Washington on the men's side.
