NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Salisbury University
men's tennis team stayed undefeated over the weekend as it defeated
Piedmont College on Sunday at Christopher Newport University. The
Sea Gulls won 8-1 for the third straight time this season.
Salisbury (3-0) won five of the six singles matches in straight
sets and dominated doubles as they won each match by four or more
games. SU doubles is a perfect 9-0 on the season as each tandem has
notched three victories.
SU was led by freshman Evan Thomas who won in
straight sets 6-3, 6-1 and has not dropped a set all season. No. 1
doubles team of junior Brendan Kincaid and
sophomore Matthew Nicholson also continued their
winning ways as they defeated Piedmont's Mike Robertson and David
Gillispie, 8-4.
Salisbury travels to Frederick, Md., to take on Hood College for
its first Capital Athletic Conference match at 3:30 p.m., Friday,
March 9.
