SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University men's
and women's tennis team both went 1-1 on Sunday as both SU teams
fell 7-2 to Johns Hopkins University but rebounded to sweep Capital
Athletic Conference opponent Gallaudet University 9-0 at the SU
Tennis Complex.
The Salisbury men (13-5, 5-1 CAC) battled hard with the Blue
Jays as Brendan Kincaid took the No. 13 player in
the nation, David Maldow, to three sets but fell, 3-6, 7-6, 2-6.
Evan Thomas suffered his first loss in singles
competition this season as he fell in straight sets to JHU's Larry
Wei, 6-4, 6-4. Thomas is now 16-1 for the season.
Kincaid and the rest of the Sea Gulls bounced back to take all
the matches with Gallaudet in straight sets.
The Sea Gull women (9-7, 5-1 CAC) took two doubles matches from
the Blue Jays as the team of Anna Marie Kable and
Jackie Burr as well as the team of Hannah
Parsons and Robyn Wendell won 8-6 and 9-8
each, respectively.
SU carried the momentum of its two doubles wins against JHU to
the Gallaudet match as the Gulls swept the overmatched and
undermanned competition.
Kable and Burr are now 11-1 as a team and sport a 4-1 conference
mark.
The Sea Gulls return to action as both the men and women host
CAC foe York (Pa.) College at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at
the SU Tennis Complex.
