SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University breezed
by an outmanned and overmatched Gallaudet University women's soccer
team on Wednesday afternoon as the Sea Gulls won 12-1 at the SU
Soccer Complex.
Salisbury remains unbeaten this season with a 7-0-1 overall
record and are still undefeated and tied for first place in the
Capital Athletic Conference with a 3-0 record.
SU senior Kate Weaver scored three goals in 11
minutes to begin the game as the maroon and gold led 4-0 early on.
Weaver now leads the team with eight goals scored and 20 points for
the season. Salisbury's starters were quickly pulled as the Sea
Gull reserves finished out the contest.
Freshman Samantha Kaufman had three goals in
the game to match Weaver. Sophomore Kamer Clarke
was the other multi-goal scorer for Salisbury as she scored two
goals in a seven minute span in the first half. SU also received
first half goals from seniors Sara Schmidt and
Erin Casey and freshman Noel
Bolmer. The Sea Gulls outshot the Bison 16-0 in the first
half as the maroon and gold led 10-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Sea Gulls scored twice as junior
Kate Del Solar scored her first goal of the season
and Kaufman netted her third goal of the game off an assist from
Amanda Pizzillo (two assists). Juniors
Samantha Asch and Christina Eury
added two and one assists each, respectively, in the win.
The Bison scored their goal in the 68th minute when freshman
Virginia Keeler blasted a shot from 20 yards out into the SU goal.
Sea Gull goalie Kristin Greene earned the win for
SU between the pipes as she is now 4-0 this season.
First place in the CAC will be on the line Saturday afternoon as
the Sea Gulls travel to York, Pa., to face the Spartans from York
College (7-2-1, 3-0 CAC) at Noon.
