Jackie Burr and Anna Marie Kable
defeated the nationally ranked duo of Christina Contrafatto and
Jackie Shtemberg, ranked No. 23 in the country and third in the
Northeast region, 8-6. That was the bright spot for the Salisbury
University women's tennis team as it dropped a 7-2 decision to No.

11-match winning streak as SU got scored on for the first time in
five matches.

lost its second match of the season as No. 20 TCNJ won by the same
7-2 score. This is first loss for the Sea Gulls since Spring Break
when they dropped a match to No. 11 Bowdoin College, 6-3.
The SU women's team (12-3) took an early 1-0 led on the
impressive upset by Burr and Kable. TCNJ (10-5) charged right back
and won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles 9-8 and 8-2, respectively. The
Gulls lost at No. 1 and No. 2 singles by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores.
Sophomore Rachel Iosue recorded the only point for
SU in singles as she posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles.
Iosue is now 10-3 on the season and 7-3 at No. 3 singles.
The SU men's team got swept at doubles by TCNJ (7-3) which put
them in an early deficit, 3-0. Senior Brendan
Kincaid, who is ranked No. 13 in the Atlantic South
region, rebounded from his first loss of the season at No. 1
singles earlier in the week with a 6-4, 6-3 win against TCNJ's Mike
Klimchak, who is ranked No. 4 in the Northeast region. Sophomore
Scott Burtzlaff got the only other point for the
Sea Gulls as he beat Jeremy Eckardt 6-4, 6-3 to improve to 13-3
overall and 8-1 at No. 3 singles.
Salisbury won't have time to dwell on the losses as they will
turn right around and play matches on Sunday afternoon on the road.
The men's team will travel to Haverford, Pa., to take on Haverford
College at 1 p.m. The women's team will conclude their Capital
Athletic Conference schedule with a match at No. 7 University of
