NORFOLK, Va. - The Salisbury University men's
tennis team picked up a 9-0 non-conference victory against
Bridgewater (Va.) College on Sunday, March 22, at the Norfolk
Academy.
Salisbury (5-4), ranked No. 7 in the Atlantic South region, made
quick work of Bridgewater (5-4) as the Gulls captured all three
doubles points. The first two matches were quick wins as sophomore
Giorgio Athans and senior Sasha
Felikson beat Teddy Callow and Andrew Thornton 8-2 for the
first point of the day at No. 3 doubles. No. 2 doubles pair
freshman Daniel Barnas and sophomore
Andrew Nottage took down Brad DeWitt and Chris
Radke, 8-4. The first singles pair of juniors Scott
Burtzlaff and Evan Thomas defeated Ryan
Radke and Brian Remsch, 9-8 (9-7).
In singles action, the Gulls swept all six singles points.
Nottage picked up the first win at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2
victory over DeWitt. Barnas improved his season record to 9-1 in
singles play this season with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Callow at No.
4 singles. Felikson defeated Brent Floyd 6-1. 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
Sophomore David Lupinetti improved his singles
season record to 9-2 as he won 6-1, 6-1 over Chris Radke at third
singles. Burtzlaff defeated Remsch at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2.
Thomas closed out the match for the Gulls with a 6-1, 6-4 victory
at second singles over Ryan Radke.
Salisbury will return to action on Thursday, March 26, when it
will travel to Christopher Newport University to face the Captains,
who are ranked ninth in the region, for a 3 p.m. match.
