Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University
volleyball team got back to its winning ways Thursday night,
earning a key Capital Athletic Conference victory over visiting
Marymount (Va.) University, 3-0.
The Sea Gulls (11-6, 2-2 CAC) controlled all three games,
earning the 25-13, 25-16, 25-16 win. Sophomore Kristin
Jehle earned two early kills for Salisbury as the
Gulls jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first game, forcing
Marymount (4-12, 0-3 CAC) to use an early timeout. The Saints could
get no closer than six points down in the remainder of the first
game, before Salisbury closed things out on another Jehle kill.
Jehle finished with seven kills in the match for Salisbury,
while sophomore Chelsea
Glowacki posted a team-high nine kills against no
errors for a .500 hitting percentage.
The second set saw Marymount take a lead midway through the
game, up 9-8, before Glowacki ripped a kill that tied things at
9-9. The Sea Gulls rattled off a 9-4 run following Glowacki's
tie-breaking point, stretching the lead to 18-13 and never looked
back. Glowacki did most of her damage in the second and third sets,
posting three kills in the second and five in the third. The
Poolesville, Md., native also had a team-best five block assists in
the match.
Sophomore hitter Kelly
Vieira ripped five kills in the match while sophomore
Jenna
Shay and freshman Jacki
Kaluzny each had four. Kaluzny also had 12 digs in the
match, as did senior Melissa
Stansbury, who was honored before the match for her
recent 1,000th career dig.
The Sea Gulls will be back in action at Maggs Physical
Activities Center on Tuesday, Oct. 5, when they host CAC opponent
Wesley College.
