Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team picked up a 73-67 victory over host Frostburg State University on Saturday in a Capital Athletic Conference contest.
The Bobcats (6-9, 1-5 CAC) converted a pair of three-point shots to jump out to a 6-0 lead early in the contest before SU senior center Chris McGrew tallied Salisbury's first point on a made free throw at the 17:48 mark. Over the next seven minutes, FSU outscored SU 15-7, extending the lead to 21-8. Over the final 10 minutes of the first stanza, Salisbury scored 26 points while Frostburg tallied 13 to send the two teams into the locker rooms knotted at 34-34. McGrew tallied eight points over the last 10 minutes of the first frame.
Salisbury (7-7, 2-3 CAC) opened the second half of play with a made three-pointer by junior guard Mike Atkins to give the Sea Gulls a lead they would not relinquish. SU extended the lead to as high as 11, following a pair of made free throws by senior guard David Pearman with 3:06 remaining.
McGrew led the Sea Gulls with a team-high 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked one shot. Pearman tallied 14 points and came down with seven rebounds. SU sophomore guard Dylan Robeson scored a career-high seven points in the victory, as he made one three-point shot and converted four-of-six free throw attempts.
The Bobcats had three players tally double-digit point totals, including a team-high 18 from Troy Dockett. Brian Anderson and Maurice Williams chipped in with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
The Sea Gulls are set to return to the Maggs Physical Activities Center this Wednesday with a CAC contest against Wesley College. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
