LEXINGTON, Va. – After earning a 9-0 victory yesterday against Bridgewater (Va.) College, the 25th-ranked Salisbury University men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of 28th-ranked Washington & Lee University (2-0) on Sunday afternoon.
The loss was not for lack of effort on Salisbury's part, as two of its six singles matches went to three sets to determine the victor. Sophomore Henry Stuhler earned the Sea Gulls' only win of the day, taking a hard-fought victory (7-5, 7-5) at the No. 5 singles spot. The No. 1 doubles duo of junior Daniel Barnas and senior Andrew Nottage suffered a narrow 8-6 loss.
Salisbury (1-1) will play its first home match of the season on Friday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m., squaring off against Vassar College for the first time in program history.
