Salisbury suffers 6-3 setback to Johns Hopkins; faces Mary Washington for CAC championship tomorrow

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team suffered a tough 6-3 loss to visiting Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday afternoon. The Sea Gulls are set to face the University of Mary Washington in the Capital Athletic Conference championship tomorrow (Thursday, April 21), so they will have to regroup quickly.

The match against the 13th-ranked Blue Jays (14-3) was the final home contest for six Sea Gull seniors: Giorgio Athans, Evan Clifton, Arthur Jackson, David Lupinetti, Andrew Nottage and Kyle Schneck. Athans and Lupinetti each picked up thrilling victories that were decided by a 10-point tiebreaker in place of a third set.

Additionally, Lupinetti teamed up with sophomore Henry Stuhler to earn an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles for the third-seeded Sea Gulls (15-7).

The championship match against the top-seeded Eagles is set to begin at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
