SALEM, Va. - The Salisbury University women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season, earning head coach Kwame Lloyd his first victory as the Sea Gull leader, with a 2-0 victory over Roanoke College on Sunday.

After the opening 10 minutes, in which neither team was able to break through the opposing defense, the Sea Gull offense came to life with four of the game's first five shots.

After a shot by sophomore Victoria Luc that hit the post in the 19th minute, SU (1-1) was able to put home its first score less than ten minutes later, as freshman Lindsey Andonian put the Gulls up, 1-0. Junior Morgan Brasch dribbled down the right side and crossed the ball on the ground to Andonian, who planted the ball in the back of the net from six yards. 

Salisbury took the 1-0 lead into the half, while outshooting the Maroons, 6-1, and leading in corner kicks, 2-1.

Sophomore Julie Dannenberg ripped a shot from outside the 18-yard box in the 52nd minute of the game, scoring her first goal of the season and putting the Sea Gulls ahead, 2-0, less than ten minutes into the second half. Salisbury held the lead for the rest of the game to solidify the victory.

The Sea Gull defense was strong, stymying Roanoke's attack throughout the game, allowing freshman goalkeeper Alesha Seifert to earn her first collegiate win. Seifert played all 90 minutes and made one save in the contest.

The Sea Gulls return home on Wednesday to play host to Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m. at the SU Soccer Complex.
