MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team scored a season-high eight goals en route to an 8-1 win over Capital Athletic Conference opponent Penn St.-Harrisburg on Wednesday night, increasing its winning streak to five in a row.

It took less than 20 minutes for the Sea Gulls to get on the board in the first half. Junior forward Victoria Luc received a ball from junior defender Heather Deamond and fired it into the back of the net, giving SU an early 1-0 lead.

Just over two minutes later, Luc struck again, this time on a breakaway goal, notching her seventh of the year and increasing the Sea Gull lead to 2-0.

After 17 minutes without a goal, the Sea Gulls looked to increase their lead even further in the half when the Lions committed a foul in the box with 39:46 elapsed in the game. Junior midfielder Christine Clark stepped up to the ball for a penalty kick and sent a shot past Lion goalkeeper Mackenzie Gates, netting her first goal of the year.

Less than a minute later, Salisbury scored its final goal of the half when freshman midfielder Jamie Tacka tallied her first score of the season, giving the Sea Gulls a 4-0 halftime cushion.

The Lions tried to play catch-up in the second half when Erica Hile took a ball from Kristin Peckman and scored, but the Sea Gulls proved to be too strong, recording the last four goals of the game.

Logan O'Meara connected on a goal at 70:48, of an assist by Jenna DeLetto, to give SU a 5-1 lead, and shortly after, Samantha Beck followed suit and scored a goal of her own.

Just four minutes after Beck's score, Jenny Gavigan notched her second goal of the year to increase Salisbury's lead to 7-1.

Junior midfielder Kandace Racine rounded out the scoring for the Sea Gulls in the 88th minute, marking her first goal of the season and finalizing the win for SU.

Senior goalkeeper Michelle Conrad led a strong defensive effort for Salisbury, playing all 90 minutes in front of the net and recording two saves. Gates garnered eight saves in goal for Penn St.-Harrisburg.

The Sea Gulls had a 23-4 edge in shot attempts, while holding a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Salisbury will be back in action on Saturday, October 11 when it travels to take on St. Mary's College of Maryland at 4 p.m., in CAC action.
