Sea Gulls turn in impressive performances at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University men's and women's track & field teams traveled to Virginia this weekend to take part in the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary. Both teams turned in solid performances against a mixed field of Division I, II, and III teams.

Women

Kyleigh Dumas kicked things off for the Sea Gulls capturing a third-place finish in the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 10' 6".

In the high jump, Meghan McGowan earned a third-place finish with a jump of 5' 7" finishing just over an inch behind the first and second-place finishers.

Both Jamie Farley and Alison Schwartz competed in the track events. Farley finished the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.56 seconds while coming home in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.67. Schwartz posted a time of 18:44.27 in the 5,000-meter run.

Men

In the field events Jeffrey McInnis captured one of the Gulls' two first-place finishes of the afternoon. McInnis finished first in the long jump posting a jump of 21' 10.75".

Matthew Adedeji captured an eighth-place finish in the triple jump recording a jump of 44' 7".

In the shot put, Graham Hensley added his name to the top of the list earning a second-place finish after recording a throw of 46' 0.5".

Duncan Ferrin earned the other first-place finish for the maroon and gold placing first in the discus. Ferrin posted a throw of 147' 2" to earn the victory.

Eric Halton got the Sea Gulls off and running in the 400-meter dash coming home in a time of 48.21 seconds to earn a second-place finish. His time moves him into a tie for second in all of Division III according to Track & Field Results Reporting System.   

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase both Billy Kirk and Malcolm Milton posted personal records. Kirk came home in a time of 9:29.36 while Milton crossed the finish line in a time of 9:41.25.  

Salisbury will return to action on Saturday April 8 when it travels to the University of Delaware for the Delaware Open. The meet is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.
