Sea Gulls fall at Haverford Saturday, 7-2

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team closed out its two-match stretch in Pennsylvania on Saturday, falling at Haverford College, 7-2.

The Sea Gulls (7-2) found themselves in a 3-0 hole following doubles play, with the tightest contest coming at No. 2 where sophomores Ian Siew and Matthew Ryan fell in a tie-breaker, 9-8 (7-2). Junior Kelson Weber and freshman Stefan Hein lost at No. 3 by an 8-5 score with sophomores Colt Williamson and Patrick MacLean falling at No. 1 doubles, 8-3.

Siew and Hein were able to pick up the two points in singles play for Salisbury with Siew earning a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 and MacLean winning at No. 3, by a 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 score.

Haverford (1-1) needed a third set at No. 4 with MacLean falling 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 10-8, and a trio of tight straight-set wins. Wiliamson lost at No. 1, by a 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 score and at No. 5 Weber fell 7-5, 6-4, while Ryan was defeated 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 6.

The Sea Gulls are back in action at Occidental College on the team's spring break trip to California. That match will take play on Sunday, March 18, beginning at 6 p.m., Eastern Time.
