Salisbury falls at No. 36 CNU, 8-1

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team fell at No. 36 Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action.

The Captains (11-8, 5-1 CAC) opened the match with a trio of 8-6 wins in doubles play. Salisbury's Ian Siew and Colt Williamson fell at No. 1, with Patrick MacLean and Matthew Ryan falling at No. 2 and Stefan Hein and Kelson Weber taking the defeat at No. 3.

Ryan earned the singles win for Salisbury (11-5, 4-2 CAC) on the day, winning at No. 6 by a 7-5, 6-1 score.

MacLean took his No. 4 match to three sets. After falling in the first set, 6-0, he took the second 6-4, but dropped the deciding set by a 6-3 score.

Hein narrlowly dropped his No. 3 singles match 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) while Weber's match at No. 5 was equally close, falling 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

Williamson fell at No. 1 by a 6-2, 6-4 score and Siew took a 6-1, 6-3 loss at No. 2.

Salisbury is back in action on Sunday, April 15, hosting The College of New Jersey beginning at 10 a.m.
