Men's tennis falls at No. 30 TCNJ, 5-4

EWING, N.J. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team nearly pulled off the upset on Saturday evening at No. 30 The College of New Jersey, falling 5-4.

The Sea Gulls (5-2) picked up two points in the doubles matches, with all three contests going to tiebreakers to determine the point. Juniors Ian Siew and Colt Williamson earned the win at No. 1 while senior Kelson Weber and junior Patrick MacLean won at No. 3. Both teams won by 8-7 (8-6) scores.

At No. 2, juniors Alec Angradi and Matthew Ryan fell by an 8-7 (7-2) score.

Four of the singles matches needed three sets to determine the winner, with TCNJ (5-0) getting the edge in four of the six contests.

Salisbury's two singles points came from Siew and Weber. Siew picked up a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 2, while Weber earned a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 5.

Angradi, at No. 1, and Ryan, at No. 6, picked up opening set wins but ultimately fell in three sets. Angradi lost by a score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 while Ryan lost 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Williamson split the first two sets at No. 3, dropping a 7-5, 0-6, 7-6 (7-5) decision while sophomore Stefan Hein was defeated at No. 4 by a 6-2, 6-3 score.

The Sea Gulls return to action on Sunday, March 10 traveling to New York University, in a match beginning at 11 a.m.
