NFCA DIVISION III TOP 25 - APRIL 14

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Salisbury University softball team was slotted eighth in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll, which was released on Wednesday.

The 17-5 Sea Gulls moved from fifth to eighth after picking up 144 points in the coaches poll after going 3-1 this past weekend with a doubleheader sweep at Mary Washington and a split at Lynchburg.

Virginia Wesleyan is the new top team in the country after collecting all eight first-place votes and 200 points. Texas Lutheran, Linfield, East Texas Baptist and Eastern Connecticut State rounded out the top-five in that order. Birmingham-Southern and Belhaven were slotted above Salisbury in the poll with 160 points and 152 points respectively.

The two teams that represent the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference in the poll, Salisbury and No. 11 Christopher Newport, are headed for a collision course on Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium. The top-15 battle is set to begin at 1 p.m.
